Staff & Elders


Fred Froman became the Pastor of Holt Baptist Church in January 2007. The passion of his heart is to communicate God’s Word accurately and clearly with practical, everyday application. Pastor Fred has served churches for a dozen years in associate roles, as well as 16 years as a senior pastor before coming to HBC.  He has a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Pastoral Studies along with a Masters of Ministry. He is a certified biblical counselor with the Association of Biblical Counselors (ACBC).  Fred serves as an elder and is the chaplain for the Delhi Fire Department.

Fred and his wife, Susan, have been married since 1979. She is involved in the music and women’s ministries at the church. Both are active in personal, marriage and family counseling. The Fromans have four adult children and five grandchildren.

Administrative Assistant

maryMary Hayes began duties of Administrative Assistant in April 2015. She and her husband Graig were married in 1976 and have two grown sons. They greatly enjoy spending time with their two grandsons in the Grand Rapids area where they are involved in various sports activities and other adventures. Graig serves on the finance team at Holt Baptist Church. They have enjoyed times of ministry to teens and adults in previous churches over the years. Mary loves to encourage and minister to women from the Word of God. Her life verse is, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Non-Vocational Elders

Bill Bush came to Christ through the ministry of HBC in 1981. Bill is retired but for 37 years was a sales delivery man for Butternut Bread. He usually spends a week in January serving with one of our missionaries in Mexico. He and his wife, Barbara, were married in 1964. They have three grown daughters, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Bill leads Senior Citizen Bible studies on Wednesdays and serves with the finance team.

perkinsEric Perkins and his wife Laurie were married in 2005. They are both historians at the Michigan History Museum in Lansing. Eric enjoys teaching at HBC and is especially interested in Puritan writers. He also serves on the HBC praise and finance teams. Laurie serves as coordinator of the member care ministry. He and Laurie enjoy history, gardening and travel.

Paul Krepps is an economic developer in the wind energy industry, working in business development and attraction for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. He has been married to Mary Ann since 1986, and they are blessed with three sons and two daughters – and one grandchild.  Two children are still at home.  All have been taught at home.  Mary Ann is the director of Classical Conversations of Lansing, a local organization that emphasizes the three stages of classical learning. Paul enjoys studying and teaching the Scriptures, and has engaged in short-term missions activity to Russia, Spain and Mexico. He served on the Delhi Township Board of Trustees from 2000-2008, and enjoys photography, writing, building, camping and other nature-related activities.

Richard Smith joined the ministry team at Holt Baptist after moving to the area to work for the Michigan Department of Agriculture in the Animal Industry Division. He and his wife, Karen, came to Lansing after serving as missionaries for over 20 years in Burkina Faso, West Africa. As a veterinarian, Rick was able to build rapport with the Fulani herdsmen and establish a platform for sharing the gospel, discipling believers, and teaching God’s Word. Both he and Karen have a burden to help others grow in their love for God and His Word. Rick and Karen were married in 1976 and have 2 children and two grandchildren.
