A Moment With Pastor Fred
No one should ever take a break from God. Even in the coming months we must seek him with our all our hearts. The summer months do however change our schedules. There’s more daylight, more outside activities, opportunities to be with family and friends. Most will take a vacation (I am) or sneak in several weekend getaways. Nothing wrong with getting away. The old southern evangelist Vance Havnor well said, “If you don’t come apart and rest awhile, you’ll come apart.”
With the new season approaching we’re taking a “summer recess” from some ministries: Sunday School/Adult Bible class, our mid-week Bible studies and small groups. We’re not taking a vacation from God just readjusting our schedules – moving from formal to informal times with him. Of course, keep up your daily Bible reading and prayer times. We must not neglect corporate weekly worship either. Please make that a priority – whether visiting another church on vacation or watching our service online. Diane Wilson is hosting a summer study in her home every other Saturday morning for ladies. Check out the announcement on the other side of the bulletin. I suggest we use some of this extra time to read a good Christian book, do a personal Bible study on our own or maybe meet with a friend on the patio to discuss what God is doing in your life.
This summer are conducting three “concerts of prayer” at 9:30 am (June 26, July 31, August 28). Families will participate – infants/toddler nursery will be open. Different themes will be announced as to the intent of our prayer time. Hope to see you here then. But remember during the summer hiatus – don’t break from God.
