A Moment With Pastor Fred
How thankful we are for the buildings God has given to us. The original structure, what is today our fellowship hall and basement was built in 1952-54. The auditorium, offices and classrooms were constructed in 1968. Such buildings require maintenance. In the last 16 years we have seen numerous projects crossed off the list: landscaping, the purchase of auditorium chairs, replacing air conditioners, work on the furnace, repairing a drain in the parking lot – not to mention resealing the parking lot numerous times plus reroofing the auditorium and replacing the flat roof. It is time now for another major project to be done.
It was 27 years ago when the auditorium was painted and carpeted. Such a project is costly. Just think of much it would cost to carpet a 1800 square foot house. Special thanks to the finance team on securing bids and spending their time discussing the ends and outs of such an undertaking. Church members should have received an email or letter explaining the costs. The elders are calling for a special business meeting after the morning service, May 21 to vote on this proposal.
I have commended you on how our church handled the COVID crisis. We maintained a spirit of unity. I desire that same spirit of love be demonstrated now. Churches have split over the color of carpet or paint. The carpet company supplied an interior decorator to help coordinate a color scheme so no one’s feelings would be hurt. I’m excited about refreshing our sanctuary. It really needs it. We desire our facility to look attractive and up-to-date, reflecting the glory of God.
