A Moment With Pastor Fred
Dave and Jan Santos have been part of our missionary family for over 30 years. Jan’s father was the pastor at Columbia Road Baptist Church – so that was the connection. They have served in Brazil, first in a camping ministry and then as church planters in Sao Paulo.
It has been my privilege to preach at Castro Elves Baptist church on several occasions. Sue and I were invited there to do a marriage conference – and another time we led a group from HBC on a short- missions trip. In fact, I believe the church sponsored two other short-term trips where we weren’t involved as well. In 2016, Dave invited me to speak at a conference for all Brazilian missionaries from his mission agency. That was a special delight. You could say Holt Baptist has a special relationship with the Santos’.
Dave and Jan have four children: Christopher, Jordan, Trent and Catilyn – they have five grandchildren. The kids and families all live here in the states – which makes it difficult for Vovo and Nonni (grandpa and grandma in Portuguese). We certainly understand why Jan is in TN with the family today. But we greatly appreciate the sacrifice Dave and Jan display by their commitment to sharing Christ in Brazil – for after all, Jesus is worth it.
Dave will speak in the ABF hour giving an update on their work. Since I was on vacation last week, I asked him to also preach in the service. I love Dave Santos. He is an easy guy to love. I love his excitement for the Lord. It is always an inspiration to be around him. Thanks Dave for your ministry to us and to the Brazilian people
