A Moment With Pastor Fred
I know fall doesn’t officially start until later this month, but in my mind it always begins after Labor Day. I love this season – maybe it’s the crisp air in the mornings, the bonfires or apple cider. Maybe its because I equate the fall with a new beginning – probably going back to when I started a new grade in school. The summer is over and a new chapter begins. Today we resume Sunday School and our Adult Bible Fellowships. Small groups return after our summer hiatus. We also begin a new series in 1 Kings.
Fall Fest is next Sunday. Please plan on attending. Special music, games, a bouncy-house, free donuts and apple cider will be offered. This year Royal Pot, a food truck will be on site. This Asian-American cuisine features popcorn chicken and noodles, egg rolls, etc. (BTW – if they don’t sell $500 we make up the difference, so please come ready to make a purchase). I am sure the outreach team could use more volunteers. Check out the table in the foyer. Above all – come. We need our own folks to be unofficial greeters. Event begins at 4 pm and ends around 6ish. Anthony, Kali and kids will be here next Sunday night too. Anthony will join our pastoral team in January. This will be another time to mix and mingle with his family.
The church was God’s idea. We must invest in reaching out. We must be giving out all that we are taking in. We must always be on guard against an inward focus. We don’t have to sacrifice going deep with God for being evangelistic. Let’s follow the slogan we see in the bulletin each week, “Loving God. Loving people.”
