Our Magnify Conference is less than two weeks away. This is a wonderful blessing having such a conference right here in our area. Dr. Carl Truman is originally from England. He is the author of A Strange New World, in which he will use as a base for the conference – Friday night and Saturday morning, October 13, 14. What indeed a strange new world in which we live? Gender identity, same-sex marriage – our culture has moved towards “expressive individualism.” How is the church to respond to such? Some react by retreating into their holy huddles – seeking to escape from reality. But the Amish approach will not work, neither is it biblical. Some react in hateful speech.    Christians are guilty of such with inappropriate jokes which fail to communicate the love of Christ. Yes, we are to be bold in defense of biblical truth, but nothing justifies an ugly spirit. Jesus was loving to sinners – confronting them, yes, but not turning them away. In fact, his harshest condemnation wasn’t towards the repentant but towards the self-righteous.
