A Moment With Pastor Fred
Disney World opened its doors on October 1,1972 in Orlando, FL. Walt Disney himself, died 6 years before the amusement park was finished. After its completion one official remarked, “It sure is sad that Mr. Disney never lived to see this.” Mark Vance, creative director of Disney studios at the time replied, “He did see it – that’s why its here.”
Visions inspire us. Robert Kennedy was right when he said, “Some people see things the way they are – and ask, why? I dream of the way things could be – and ask, why not?” Vision is not just for theme parks and governments. We as a church need vision too. We need to see beyond ourselves, past our comfort zones and envision what God could do with Holt Baptist Church this year and beyond.
Once again HBC is about to begin a new strategic plan. The elders and deacons have spent this past year discussing, praying, envisioning what God would have us to do in the next three years. You will hear more and more about this plan this month.
Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” That is our task here – each one of us, to become fruitful disciples of Christ for God’s glory.
