A Moment With Pastor Fred

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for
sweet and sweet for bitter. Isaiah 5:20
I was sickened this past week when the state of New York passed legislation allowing mothers to abort (excuse me, murder) their babies up until birth. Governor Andrew Cumo delighted at such ordered New York city’s landmarks, including the spiral on the One World Trade Center, be lit in pink to celebrate this victory. Imagine, a building dedicated to the memory of those killed on 9-11 now commemorating the loss of life. And I am told the names of several unborn children killed in that attack are etched on the fountains. What hypocrisy.
We have come a long way from when the Supreme Court legalized abortion due to the health of the mother. Now abortions can be granted for full-term infants in NY. Unimaginable.
While Abraham Lincoln cited slavery as the blight upon our nation during the civil war, abortion now is America’s greatest nightmare. The NY law is evidence of the deep-seated control that evil has in the hearts and minds of people. That said, everyone who has ever been transformed by the love of Jesus was just as evil. So while we mourn, we also pray and speak of Jesus with hope.
