A Moment With Pastor Fred

Today I am preaching at Heart of Jesus Church in Chernivtsi, Ukraine (relax folks, it’s part of the Baptist Union). Sue and I finished a multi-church, state-wide family conference yesterday. Lord willing, we return Wednesday. Keep praying for us – to be a blessing to those who we encounter. 

I’m happy to have my friend, Paul Pelle preach today. Paul serves Christ at First Baptist of Okemos. He is a good and faithful man – learning the ropes of ministry. Please welcome Paul and his family to HBC. Our sister church is having a difficult time right now, and we can be a blessing and encouragement to Paul.  

Today after the service we will call for a special business meeting to vote on the financial proposal listed on the bulletin board, ie, taking money out of our reserve fund to make some facility repairs both at the church and parsonage. How thankful we are for having such funds available. We will also vote on the proposed doctrinal supplement regarding heterosexual marriage to be added in our constitution. 

Next Sunday we will begin a new series on the church, “The House That Jesus Built.” I’m excited to change my normal way of communicating God’s Word. We need a refresher course on what is the local church and how God intends for it to function for his glory.
