A Moment With Pastor Fred

I am weary of hearing politicians bemoan the mistreatment of children at the USA/Mexican border while those same politicians argue for the murder of children within the womb.  This is not meant to be political censure—it is meant to be a moral one.   This is not meant to excuse any mistreatment of migrant children or adults that could occur.   Sadly the whole immigration mess has become a campaign football to make points with one’s constituency.   That’s another issue. 

But it is the height of hypocrisy to claim one cares for children while at the same time advocating their deaths.   When the abortion debate first surfaced the argument was the unborn child wasn’t a human being—but a fetus, a thing.   That no longer is the discussion.   It is a proven medical fact that the unborn child is a living soul.   Now the argument is the woman’s right to choose.   And even to the extent where then presidential candidate Hilary Clinton defended on television during the last debate that abortion was justified up to the time of birth.   I was horrified when I heard that.   This is no longer shocking.   Earlier this year the NY legislature rose to their feet in applause when it passed such a law.  

As Christians we understand human life is sacred.  We are created in the image of our Father.   May we speak the truth in love to those who are blinded by our culture.  And may we pray for those in government to see their hypocrisy.
