A Moment With Pastor Fred
10/19/18
Homelessness, alcohol or drug abuse, mental illness are all terrible problems facing cities around the nation. We understand many of these situations are self-inflicted, but that doesn’t resolve the pain or suffering involved. Mark Bozzo began a ministry in downtown Lansing called Outreach designed to help – the least of the least of these. Over the last year Mark developed a friendship with Mark Criss, the Executive Director of the Lansing City Rescue Mission. They discussed about joining forces – and then suddenly God had plans to call Mark Bozzo to heaven.
A few months ago the board at the City Rescue Mission voted to take on this new ministry. City Outreach will serve the most disenfranchised. The entire project and its operations is estimated to be in excess of $325,000. This new 4000 foot facility will accommodate 36 people – something needed before cold weather sets in. Randy Barton, one of our own, is one of the men responsible for his new ministry.
The elders are asking our church family to give over and above your regular offering to this new project. Mark your envelope “Rescue Mission.” Let’s give generously and give sacrificially.
The new ministry begins November 1, so we would like to send a church check to the mission after next Sunday. Of course the only answer to these individuals is the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is in keeping with the purpose of the Lansing City Rescue Mission.
