A Moment With Pastor Fred
The Bible teaches we are to give to Christ’s church freely, generously and sacrificially. What a blessing it is to shepherd a flock who follow God’s commands. Our offerings last year exceeded our budgetary demands. That allowed us to save for upcoming projects. If you are one of those who give to HBC – thank you. If you would like to participate in giving – ask for a box of offering envelopes. You can also give online.
Last Sunday John Helmuth gave us a “preamble” to the proposed 2023 budget. An email was sent last week as well. Copies of the budget are available on the kiosk. Special thanks to John who serves as a deacon and also as our finance chairman. Gratitude too for Jim Rizzardi, our church treasurer and the others who serve on our finance team. Much work and effort went into preparing this budget. If you have questions – feel free to ask.
Our Annual Business Meeting will be held on January 29 following the potluck luncheon. We need 50% of our membership present for a quorum – so please make every effort to attend. Items to be voted on (each by secret ballot) will be: budget, finance team, church officers (treasurer and secretary) – and Joseph Cecil to join our group of deacons. Joe and Charlie Ann have been members here for a number of years. It has been a joy seeing both grow in Christ. Deacons are servants and we would like to see Joe serve in our men’s ministry which he’s already been doing. Deacons are not chosen for popularity but by biblical qualifications. Check out 1 Tim 3:8-13. The elders and current deacons believe Joseph fits these requirements.
Would you join me in praying for our annual meeting? God has given us such a sweet spirit of unison in the past. It is a gift from him.
