A Moment With Pastor Fred
Diane Wilson, Susan and I had the opportunity to attend the counseling training provided by Faith Church in Lafayette, IN this past week. From Sunday night thru Friday morning we heard hours of teaching on a range of subjects that will hopefully sharpen our counseling skills. Thank you as a church for sending us. Next Sunday we each will give a brief testimony about what we learned and how we were blessed in a Ministry Moment.
Being out of the office all week makes sermon preparation a tad difficult. Special thanks to Paul Krepps who today is going to give us an enlarged Missions Moment regarding his recent visit in Senegal with Josh and Carissa Bell. HBC is the Bells’ home and sending church. Paul discovered that when he would return from his India business trip he could make a stop in Senegal. I’m anxious and excited to hear his report today. I also asked him to use this time to encourage us in our own mission. We believe in missions abroad, but we also must be involved in missions right here in our own backyard. Listen carefully how you can share the gospel to those who God brings across your path every day.
The front of our bulletin reminds us each week of our mission statement. “Becoming fruitful disciples of Christ for God’s glory.” That is our purpose. HBC is not a social club or an organization to help the poor. We are the church – the body of Christ designed by God to reach a lost and dying world with the good news of the gospel. We much do that overseas as well as in the greater Lansing area.
