A Moment With Pastor Fred
Next Sunday we will spend the SS/ABF hour discussing some important matters regarding our church. Paul Krepps will review our current Strategic Plan – did we achieve our objectives? Doug Troxell will discuss a constitutional change the elders and deacons are recommending. Currently, to do business we need 50% of members present. With shut-ins and a number of folks wintering in Florida (especially during our January annual meeting) we “squeak by.” We’re proposing that percentage be changed to 40%. The old constitution (the one we had when I came in 2007) had the quorum set at 25% – so we’re still asking for a strong commitment. Our constitution also allows votes by proxy – Doug will again explain that rationale.
I will then present the proposed strategic plan for 2024-27. Copies are in your bulletin. We reviewed this with the congregation back in September. The elders are calling for a special business meeting December 3 after the service to vote on the plan and this quorum change.
It’s so encouraging when people participate in such a meeting as next Sunday. This is the time we’ve set aside to ask questions allowing us the time to respond. Such allows our actual business meetings to go smoothly having worked out any issues prior. If you don’t normally come to ABF – and are a member, please come next Sunday to stay informed. Thank you.
I’m excited about the future of HBC. I’m humbled by how God has used our former strategic plans these past 16 years.
