A Moment With Pastor Fred
I love Sunday School. I love our Adult Bible Fellowship hour. It’s convenient to have extra Bible training an hour before church. Sue and I are thankful for the Sunday School teachers we had and the ones our children had too. Young Timothy was grateful for such, 2 Tim 3:15, “and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” I love teaching God’s Word. Our ABF hour is different than my Sunday sermon.
With that said another summer season is approaching and we’re going to take a “summer recess” for SS/ABF from May 26 thru September 1. We’re not taking a vacation from God just readjusting our schedules – moving from formal to informal times with him. Of course, we must never neglect corporate weekly worship. Please make that a priority – whether visiting another church while on vacation or watching our service online.
The summer months do, however, change our schedules. There’s more daylight, more outside activities, more opportunities to be with family and friends. Our teachers need a break as well – I know I do. Special thanks to the Prices and Joe Hart, as well as the numerous individuals who staff our nurseries during this time. Starting an hour later is much appreciated for our musicians and sound both team who usually arrive at 8 am for practice during the school year.
Most of us will take a vacation (I am) or sneak in several weekend getaways. Nothing wrong with that. The old southern evangelist Vance Havnor well said, “If you don’t come apart and rest awhile, you’ll come apart.”
