A Moment With Pastor Fred
What is the over-arching narrative of the Bible?
It’s good for us to be able to recite the biblical narrative in a simple manner. “What’s the Bible all about?” someone might ask. Or maybe someone asks, “Why is there so much suffering in the world?” Here is a way in which we can answer such – especially in an evangelistic context. Four key words – easy to remember.
Creation, Fall, Redemption, Restoration.
Creation – God created the universe. He created everything good. We have a purpose.
Fall – something went drastically wrong. We rebelled against our Creator. We chose to do our own thing. We’ve committed cosmic treason. We stand guilty and deserving of our Creator’s judgment.
Redemption – the story of the Bible is one of redemption. Synonyms for redemption are recovery, rescue, salvation. Jesus came to purchase our redemption. He died on our behalf. Paid the price we should have paid – suffering God’s judgment. We can find forgiveness through him. He conquered death being resurrected.
Restoration – Jesus puts things back together. He can restore my broken relationship with God, granting me eternal life. One day he will return and put all things back in order.
Hallelujah! Have you received his gift of forgiveness?
