A Moment With Pastor Fred

Sex is a wonderful gift God has given to us as human beings. It’s intent is to be used for his glory, as found within heterosexual marriage. However, we are living in a day of sexual confusion and heartache. Culture continues to slide down a slippery slope as described in Romans 1. As believers we need to respond biblically – and yet compassionately to those trapped by sin.

At our annual meeting earlier this year we announced a proposed addition to our church’s doctrinal statement. While the statement provided was true, the following is a shorter version which better fits the reading of the other doctrinal points.  

“We believe in a literal interpretation of the creation account in Genesis. We believe God created male and female genders and established marriage as a lifelong, covenant relationship between one man and one woman. Further, we believe God ordained marriage as the only proper context for sexual expression. Genesis 1:1-31, Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:1-9, Romans 1:24-27, Colossians 1:16-17, Hebrews 13:4.”

You as a congregation will be asked to approve this change. 

The exact date of such a meeting has not been set – sometime this summer. At this time the elders simply sought to announce this updated proposal. If you have any questions please feel free to speak to us. We desire biblical clarity in a morally confusing age.
