A Moment With Pastor Fred
5/17/19
Well it was a Mother’s Day we won’t ever forget. As many of you know Sue woke me last Sunday at 1:30 am. We had gone to bed with her experiencing chest pains – she thinking it indigestion. Her wake-up call pushed us to go to the hospital where it was determined she had or was experiencing a heart attack. A heart cath revealed 90% blockage in one artery. A stent is now keeping it open.
Sue is wearing a “life vest” – a portable defibrillator as a precaution. She’s taking it one-day-at-a-time. She tires easily which we’ve been told is normal. Cardio-rehab is scheduled for later. Thank you for your prayers – and for those who have sent cards and brought by meals. Thank you church family for the beautiful flowers that were sent. Your love for Sue and me has been evident.
Surreal. That’s what I’ve been experiencing. I mean, Sue and heart attack just don’t go in the same sentence. But every day is a gift from God. Our time is in his hands. We are more aware of that truth than ever. We are humbled and appreciative of God’s mercies. He is good and his faithfulness is fresh every morning.
We praise him for intervening on Sue’s behalf. Please continue to pray for her as her heart heals and she regains her strength.
And know this – whatever circumstances you might be experiencing today are under God’s loving and sovereign hand. Sometimes things don’t work out the way we wish, but that doesn’t mean God’s off his throne. We don’t always understand his mysterious ways, but God’s way is best. And that my friend allows me to rest my head at night.
