A Moment With Pastor Fred
9/20/19
What do you do when Mike wants to be called Michelle? Is same-sex attraction in itself sinful? What gives anyone the right to tell two consenting adults that their sexual behavior is wrong? We live in an overly sexualized culture. It influences and impacts all of us. How do we navigate through the sexual confusion of our day? What do parents need to know – how do we prepare our kids?
Our Magnify Conference this year seeks to address and answer these questions: “Speaking the Truth in Love a Sexualized Culture.” Tragically those who identify themselves as Christians do not always speak in love when it comes to these cultural issues. But we must. We are all broken sexually. We need – I need help. The Gospel of Jesus Christ provides the answer to our question. This year’s speaker is Denny Burk, professor at Boyce College and Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville. He is the author of the book, “What is the Meaning of Sex?” God created sex. It is his gift to us – to be celebrated but with his divine instructions. It is when we violate his original intent we find ourselves in trouble.
Magnify will be held on Friday night and Saturday morning, November 1-2 at University Reformed Church in East Lansing. HBC is one of its sponsors. Cost is only $15 per person; $25 couple and teens attending with a parent are free. We will start collecting reservations soon. Mark this important date on your calendar.
