A Moment With Pastor Fred
How long do we pray for the lost? George Muller was the director of an orphanage in Bristol, England in the 19th Century. He was one of the founders of the Plymouth Brethren movement. Muller was a man of prayer. He began praying for five of his lost friends in November 1844. After 18 months one was saved. After 5 years, another came to Christ. Eleven years after Muller started praying the 3rd man trusted in Jesus. In 1897, 53 years after George Muller had started praying for these friends, the 4th man was saved. And it wasn’t until a few years after Muller himself died that the last man professed faith. What a testimony of faithful praying. That encouraged me. I hope it encourages you.
Beginning next Sunday at 9:30 am I am going to begin a new series in the auditorium, “Calling the Church to Prayer.” Prayer is one of our core values. It is also listed as one of our initiatives in our strategic plan. We are going to study together what the Bible teaches about prayer – giving practical advice on how we can grow in prayer. I know I need to hear this. I’m sure you do to.
During this time our nursery is open – thank you to all who assist in this vital ministry as well as classes for boys and girls along with teens. SS/ABF requires you to simply come an hour earlier to sit under the teaching of God’s Word. Yes, I know for some it requires extra work and patience. But believe, me, it will be worth having the family being exposed to God’s Word.
