Just a Moment…

Our current strategic plan addresses the importance of family. Last fall Susan and I facilitated a Sunday morning class discussing parenting. It was well received. What a joy hearing couples interact with each other regarding their parenting task. This September and October I will teach a class on marriage seeking to implement the strategic plan initiative, “provide opportunities to strengthen marriages.”

Unlike our parenting class which targeted only young families – this class on marriage wishes to include all marriages – from 6 months to 60 years. Susan and I always seek to grow in the biblical understanding of marriage. We will meet upstairs in the fellowship hall.  An auditorium class will also be available taught by Pastor Anthony on prayer. Sunday School and ABFs resume September 13.  

I love marriage. I am thankful for the wife God has given to me – and I know Susan is grateful for me as her husband. Our marriage is not perfect. We’ve had our struggles. But the gospel of Christ addresses marriage and its struggles. Our class won’t be something you could read in Readers Digest but will articulate biblical principles that speak towards marriage.  If you don’t normally attend the ABF hour, and are married, I would encourage you to come.

Putting something like this together involves some planning and forethought. A children’s Sunday School class needs to be covered during those weeks – additional help in the nurseries would be appreciated too.  It is my deepest desire to see marriages at HBC be all they can be for the glory of God.
